Haha. Actually you're just the unintended recipient of years of gmail frustrations, and this feature is just one more! Alpha feature, yes. But you have to admit it is poorly implemented. It should be a general display setting, not some obscure feature on an obscure menu. At the moment, there's a hack you add to firefox's user style sheet to force gmail e-mail bodies to plain text display that works much better. Yeah it's free. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't suck!
