We would like to announce the next UUG meeting:

Introduction to Linux Kernel Development
- Thursday, July 9
- 7:00 pm
- Room 230 Tanner Building

Although the Linux kernel may seem huge and complex, it's just a big
program. This is your chance to get to know that program a little
better and start you down the road to kernel development.

What we'll cover:
- Kernel development model
- How the kernel gets from boot loader to shell prompt
- A tour of kernel subsystems
- Hooking up a debugger
- Writing a simple kernel module

Topher designed some lovely flyers, which are available as ODF and PDF:

http://aml.cs.byu.edu/~amcnabb/Kernel_flyer.odt

We would really appreciate help in distributing the flyers. Here are a
few locations that Topher mentioned. Please respond to this email (to
the list), and let us know which locations you can post flyers at.
There are many great locations that aren't on this list--just make sure
to follow the rules for each building. Posting flyers is really easy to
do, and it's a great help.

I'm taking care of the CS Department, so I've removed this from Topher's
list.

> EE/CE Dept: Give one copy to the secretary in the Clyde. You could even
> call her and see if she would be okay with emailing her a PDF, and
> letting her print and post it. If you go for the latter, just say that
> it's the same club that showed up with the flyer 2 weeks ago.
>
> IT Dept: Take 4 flyers to the School of Technology office on the 2nd
> floor in the Crabtree and get them stamped, then put them up on the 2nd
> and 3rd floor bulletin boards.
>
> ISys: Take 4 flyers to the ISys secretary on the 7th floor in the Tanner
> building.
>
> Campus-Wide: If you take 8 flyers to the Info Desk in the Wilk (before
> noon on Monday), they will post them in misc. spots around campus.

Thanks, everyone.
