UUG'ers, Tonight's presentation will probably be the most generally useful and applicable meeting that we've had all year. Networking problems are plentiful and varied, and everybody should learn (and review) the basics and troubleshooting techniques. Plus, it will be an important introductory/refresher course in preparation for the meeting on iptables that Dr. Zappala will be presenting on the 19th of this month. iptables is the wicked-awesome, swiss-army knife of packet-filtering. It can be used to create firewalls, play nasty tricks on your friends, and Dr. Zappala's lab is currently using it to improve wireless network throughput.
Also: Think about anybody you know that could possibly be interested in the UUG and tell them about it. We want be as effective as possible in helping BYU students learning about and using Linux and all of its Unix-ee cousins. Tell your friends/co-workers/family/butcher about our amazing meetings and oh-so-useful mailing list. If you don't think that our meetings are amazing, then please send me ideas for possible meetings and/or volunteer to present at a meeting yourself. --Topher BYU Unix Users Group Librarian/President -------------------- BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ The opinions expressed in this message are the responsibility of their author.
