Traitor! Just kidding. Let us know how it turns out. I love my old powerbook laptop but I cannot stand using OS X as a primary desktop. The window manager policies drive me up the wall. I presume you used xsane or on your linux machine to run with the scanner. If you're continuing to use the linux machine as a server or whatever, just rune saned on it and use the sane-twain bridge on OS X.
