A lot of people enjoy programming contests, but I'm not sure if the UUG
is really the best organization for this. We welcome a lot of members
who really aren't into programming, but who enjoy free software, system
administration, web design, etc. I know that our local ACM chapter does
programming contests; I wonder if this would be a good group to set up a
faceoff with.
