Does UWIN support _in_ _practice_ MingGW 'gcc' nowadays ?

Both should work.  I am biased toward UWIN which is faster than Cygwin.

I've used both, and I agree with David:  UWIN is _much_ faster than Cygwin, 
even on very high-end multiple-core machines.

Yes, we are putting together a complete 64 but version for vista and v7.

I await this eagerly.  I have a high-end multiple-core machine that lusts for 
it. ;-)
