It really isn't better to be "safe than sorry" for the whole world ...
that is how these hoax/viruses work. The originator hopes that
everyone will forward it just to be "safe" ... and the desired result
is to jam mail servers with useless messages that regenerate at an
amazing rate. So in these cases ... it is better to be "safe than
sorry" on a personal level and not participate in the chain letter.
