Terry,

This is the type of thing you can find a real bargain on in a pawn shop.

First, shop around and figure out what a good quality tool costs new.  Then
visit the pawn shops in your area.  When you find what you want, don't worry
about what the price tag says.  It's usually about 120% of new price.  Offer
them about 30 to 50% of new price and chances are you'll take it home.

I've bought a lot of "like new" if not brand new tools using this method.
Just remember that most pawn shops loan about 10 to 15% of the value of an
item.  When they sell it to you for 30% of the new price, they're still
doubling their money.
