Clean (VERY clean) the contacts in the connector between the
rectifier/regulator and the stator (three wires in one connector, and one in
the other (the ground connector).  I KNOW this sounds too simple, but after
replacing everything else I discovered this to be my problem.  It seems the
SLIGHTEST dirt (electrical resistance) here is all the regulator needs to
believe the battery is charged, when in fact it is not fully charged.

This is a recurring problem, so every year or so....CLEAN...is good!
