Hi, I had the same problem with my 86 FJ1200 that I took out of storage after 3 years, to send to my son who is working in the caribean. The gas tank had been emptied before storage, but the carbs were not drained. The dealer, who was shipping it down, came over, and poured a couple of bottles of carb cleaner in, then revved the hell out of it. The thing was screaming, and flames were shooting out of the exhaust. All the kids in the neighbourhood came over, as did our neighbours. He said that the cleaner works about 75% of the time. Else he strips down the carbs and rebuilds them for $400. Anyway, after all that noise and fire, it ran like a charm. He checked compression, which was fine, changed the plugs and oil and shipped it down. Spencer Fisher .............................................
