Gary,
You have the correct manual then. As I said .. there is not a
supplement for all model years, only years that represented a major
change. All manuals are basically "N" manuals, (the first year of
manufacture, '85). I bought my manual in '93 which also happened to be
a significant year of change, (larger diameter forks, 4 piston front
calipers etc). I thought that my manual had an "E" supplement in it
because I had bought it in '93 and every model year had a current year
supplement ... this of course is not the case ...... So until '96 when
the "H" supplement appeared ... the "E" was the latest and greatest.
Of course even today .. if you obtain a manual with an "H" supplement
in it, (1996), then you have the latest and greatest and it will work
fine for your '98, (actually it will be accurate for '96 up ..). IE
... If you look in the main manual .. and you are working on your
front brakes you are going to see photos of 2 piston calipers ... it
you want to see specific information on the 4 piston units then you
have to flip to the "E" supplement which is the model when they first
appeared ...... There are some things that are important to check ..
such as triple tree torque ... it actually changes on the top clamps
as of the "E" supplement ....... no big deal ... also watch out for
info on the ignition etc ... (you have to look in a supplement to see
the correct wiring for the "later" single pickup ignition etc)
