Comment #1 on issue 3182 by [email protected]: element.id=null causes id="null" as string
http://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=3182

This is not a V8 issue; V8 doesn't know about elements, ids, or titles (or the DOM in general, which is specified by the embedder).

FWIW, the HTML spec says that "ID and NAME tokens must begin with a letter ([A-Za-z]) and may be followed by any number of letters, digits ([0-9]), hyphens ("-"), underscores ("_"), colons (":"), and periods (".").". I haven't checked, but I guess the implementation just converts any value to a string before actually assigning it, which seems reasonable to me.
