Why do we need this? I think the situation here is not much different from
--no-crankshaft, and we managed to handle this via assert(Un)Optimized
without adding yet another dimension to our testing matrix (which is
already too damn high^H^H^H big).
Put another way: What are the *detailed* reasons why this is currently
necessary?
