Hi all,

I'm writing to inquire on the state of ES5 support in v8. Recently
I've been playing around with using v8 (with node.js) to do complex
server-side tasks, and in this context a lot of the extensions in ES5
would be really helpful for me (i.e. just in terms of reducing
boilerplate). Also, in this context I'm not worried about
interoperability with other JS implementations, so I'd be able to use
ES5 features right now if v8 supported them.

What's the timeline for ES5 implementation? Is it 6 months off? A
year? longer? A an aside, if anyone of the v8 developers are reading,
I think having a project roadmap somewhere on the v8 project page
would be really helpful. Right now the overall focus and direction of
the project is pretty opaque, and the project pages don't seem to be
updated (e.g. the home page says that IA-32 is required for Linux,
even though 64 bit has been supported for a while now).

Thanks,
Evan Klitzke
