On the standard 2024-T3 panel found on the early airstreams, the alclad
(short for aluminum cladding) is about .005" of pure Al aluminum. Soft
a a baby's butt. Acts as a barrier to the alloyed material of the
panel, which would corrode faster if exposed to weather due to the other
elements it contains.
