My experience with older vehicles, (I tend to drive a vehicle ten to 15 years on the average) is that some parts need replacement to prevent on the road failures. Rubber hoses and parts like belts under the hood I consider need to be replaced at least every ten years, also water pumps now matter that the mileage doesn't show them worn out. Ford's rubber tie rod ends are something that needs replacing sooner. Ford's and probably other's fuel pressure regulator also needs to be replaced at similar intervals. When it fails it can trash a perfectly fine engine, mine did that last winter at only 77,000 miles. Saves fixing them on the road when we'd rather be traveling. Gerald J.
