Bob -
Another thing to consider is the fact that leaving your blackwater gate open allows the accumulated sewer gasses of the entire Oceanside community to rise and reside in your blackwater tank... and in the vicinity of your vent opening... and even though it's vented, you will notice the 'aroma' whenever you flush ('burp') your toilet... your trailer will become the 'stinky kid' of your neighborhood.

OK.  As Dr. G. and Pearl have stated some materials sink to the bottom of the tank and become essentially paper mache, making them very hard to dislodge later.

My question is could I just use the procedure of closing the slider valve once in a while, like every two months instead of making it a way of life.  I don't want to leave my hatch unlocked and there is a bit of gardening that makes access every few days impractical.  Can I get away with occasional procedure?

way back when I started towing the A/S in 64  and my tank was clean whan they
had to take it out to put in the new floor where the pump had leaked.    Pearl
