Thanks Guys, for the info. I guess I'll see if I can take out what is left
of the anchors for the antenna and see if I can find a replacement. Hey, I
found a wire inside under the built in couch and always wondered what it
was for! I guess there was a radio inside at one time. Thanks again ..back
to the polishing whenever the weather clears and warms up some ;>)

I have something (else) I have found on my 57 Overlander that puzzles me.
It
is located about 6" above the center of the front window above the trailer
tongue.
I can't tell if it was a light or an antennae? It has two posts (the only
thing
left) that are about 8" apart in a vertical position. No wires visible?
Anyone
have any idea what it was used for??
Jerry they are, or in your case were, the radio antenna bracket bases. The
original bases were made from molded plastic with a metal coupling to the
antenna. The plastic becomes brittle with age and breaks.
Go to:

Concerning discrimination against older RV's by private RV parks:
One can complain, embarass, harass, boycott, educate, list, blackball
and everything else all that one wants, but the bottom line is that a
private RV park is a private RV park. The owner has just as much right to
not accept older RV's in their park as the VAC has not to accept newer
Airstreams, or any Some Other Brand RV's in its club and activities. You
may not like their rules any more than some excluded RV'ers like yours, but
they have the right to make them, just as you do.
State and Federal parks are built and maintained with public money, and
are owned (at least theoretically) by the public. They are not private.
Different rules apply to them.
If someone doesn't want my business, I'll take my business and my money
elsewhere. But I won't try to cram my business down their throat.
Attacking them with an attitude is not likely to get favorable results.
It will probably just make it harder for everyone else.

Save the old LeDuex/Hehr vent components and the frame opening that you
have to take out and keep them safe. That way you have preserved what
is nowadays very valuable parts. Some future restorer, or even
yourself someday, will want to remove that rooftop AC. I know they are
popular in the south & Midwest, but no one will agree that they are
things of beauty - or are without their maintenance nightmares.
Also, as Andy noted, have a plastics shop* fabricate a PVC pan to
capture the condensation, and then either run the drain line down the
wall, ideally between the two skin sections to near the floor under
some cabinets. An alternative is to hook an external drain hose up each
stop.

Best of luck,

Jeff. You can install the moldings several ways. You can space out a sealer
such as Par-bond within the channel. Slide the molding over the edge of the
window. Hold it in place with any kind of tape, until the sealer sets. Or,
you can use silicone sealer, if you wish. We do not suggest vulkem. Should
the window break, and you wished to salvage the moldings, you will have a
devil of a time getting all the broken pieces and vulkem out of the channel.
Using double sided tape is not practical. Andy

The sink area on my '77 Sovereign is dull, and has lost it's "shine", I
imagine due to excessive use of "Soft Scrub", or it's equivalent, by the
previous owners.
Can anyone recommend something to seal and polish up the surface? I dont
know if it's plastic (which I suspect) or fiberglass.

Dave. You can use a "white compound" to cut into the surface, if its stained.
Use a polishing buffer. Follow that up with a good paste wax, again, using
the buffer. Makes a little mess, but works great. Andy

Jim:
Be sure to report on your experiences with Habitat. I noticed
their RV Caravans advert, and got the kit. I might like to do that one year
in future - this year is all used up for us. ;-).
Best of luck on your adventure.

I have a newer Duotherm Penquin on a 63 Globetrotter and the water does run
down the side. Can I buy a collector pan for this trailer and AC unit? Does a
63 have a drain line already run? Thanks

Dave, I used 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper on mine (which is fiberglass).
Shining was a byproduct of removing some ugly brown stains.

Hi Dave:
I'm looking at the West Marine Products master catalog. There is a coupla
pages of stuff for dealing with fiberglass, including rubbing compounds,
cleaners with rubbing compound, stain removers, etc, etc.
Check out: http://www.westmarine.com for that and a lot more about
fiberglass.
