Hello Alvaro, thanks for the hints, but i think I have not explained clearly my situation. I have run virtualbox on my host server in GUI mode and installed from an iso which is based on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.13.0-85-generic x86_64) - in fact it is a modified iso - NOT the original Ubuntu Server.
What i would like to do is to perform the steps needed to be able to create box from it for further use. I have read on different places that some prerequisites are needed, like: -installing some needed packages - dkms?? - i have found many : # apt-cache search dkms bbswitch-dkms - Interface for toggling the power on nVidia Optimus video cards backfire-dkms - kernel module for signal benchmarking (DKMS) blcr-dkms - DKMS support for BLCR kernel module flashcache-dkms - write-back block device cache for Linux (DKMS version) langford-dkms - Kernel drivers for the Per Vices Noctar IQ demodulator board lime-forensics-dkms - kernel module to memory dump (DKMS) nat-rtsp-dkms - Connection tracking and NAT support for RTSP ndiswrapper-dkms - Source for the ndiswrapper Linux kernel module (DKMS) openswan-modules-dkms - Internet Key Exchange daemon - DKMS source oss4-dkms - Open Sound System - DKMS module sources r8168-dkms - dkms source for the r8168 network driver tp-smapi-dkms - ThinkPad hardware/firmware access modules source - dkms version v4l2loopback-dkms - Source for the v4l2loopback driver (DKMS) west-chamber-dkms - iptable extension for bypassing content filtering firewall (dkms) xtables-addons-dkms - Extensions targets and matches for iptables broadcom-sta-dkms - dkms source for the Broadcom STA Wireless driver sl-modem-dkms - SmartLink software modem driver - module building source dh-modaliases - debhelper extension for scanning kernel module aliases dkms - Dynamic Kernel Module Support Framework open-vm-dkms-lts-trusty - Open VMware Tools for virtual machines hosted on VMware (transitional package) open-vm-tools-lts-trusty-dkms - Open VMware Tools for virtual machines hosted on VMware (transitional package) virtualbox - x86 virtualization solution - base binaries virtualbox-dkms - x86 virtualization solution - kernel module sources for dkms virtualbox-guest-dkms - x86 virtualization solution - guest addition module source for dkms virtualbox-guest-dkms-lts-vivid - x86 virtualization solution - guest addition module source for dkms virtualbox-guest-dkms-lts-wily - x86 virtualization solution - guest addition module source for dkms virtualbox-guest-dkms-lts-xenial - x86 virtualization solution - guest addition module source for dkms blktap-dkms - Xen API blktap kernel component DKMS package dahdi-dkms - DAHDI telephony interface (dkms kernel driver) fwts-efi-runtime-dkms - Firmware Test Suite UEFI Runtime Service kernel driver iscsitarget-dkms - iSCSI Enterprise Target kernel module source - dkms version lttng-modules-dkms - Linux Trace Toolkit (LTTng) kernel modules (DKMS) open-vm-dkms - Open VMware Tools for virtual machines hosted on VMware (transitional package) open-vm-tools-dkms - Open VMware Tools for virtual machines hosted on VMware (transitional package) openafs-modules-dkms - AFS distributed filesystem kernel module DKMS source openvswitch-datapath-dkms - Open vSwitch datapath module source - DKMS version -creating vagrant and adding it to sudo -installing GuestAdditions CD iso image i have 4.3.36 version of virtualbox on host server. Should i take the following iso for the box and install it? http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.3.36/ VBoxGuestAdditions_4.3.36.iso -install ssh keys -configure shared folder Is there any procedure for this version of Ubuntu Server 14.04.4, i can use for my case? I have in mind something similar as described on page: https://thornelabs.net/2013/11/11/create-a-ubuntu-server-1204-lts-vagrant-base-box-from-scratch-using-virtualbox.html Thanks and kind regards, Ardi On Monday, 8 August 2016 18:16:47 UTC+2, Alvaro Miranda Aguilera wrote: > > hello > > have a look at packer.io > > is easier to create a vm from scratch with the disk size you require. > > have a look at this boxes: > https://atlas.hashicorp.com/cbednarski > > templates are here: > https://github.com/cbednarski/packer-ubuntu > > Alvaro > -- This mailing list is governed under the HashiCorp Community Guidelines - https://www.hashicorp.com/community-guidelines.html.
