My laptop is from the APM->ACPI transition days so that stuff was always a little flakey, and I haven't had a working battery for well over five years, so suspending to memory isn't an option. I suspend to swap space using software suspend 2: http://www.suspend2.net/
It works great most of the time. It occasionally fails to resume, but with a journaling file system I've never lost data, or had a bad file system. Also, I'm using a pretty old software suspend 2 patch and kernel (not to mention the laptop itself), so things may be more perfect with newer versions. In any case I'm happy with it. -- Anthony Carrico http://memebeam.org/acarrico/ http://giftfile.org/
