I've been advised to clean up my office a bit, so I've got a pile of
machines that are going away by Monday at the latest. They're in
various stages of [dis]repair, for the most part, and generally of
the PIII generation. The one that I'd be most interested in not
treating as e-waste is a Proliant 1600, PIII @ 550Mhz w/512MB, a pair
of SCSI disks (8GB? 15GB? Something like that.), and a tape drive
that I wouldn't trust for important data. It will boot Linux. It
weighs a lot. It seems to work fine, and was retired based on age,
speed, and lack of warranty, not on disrepair. Other than that, I've
got between six and ten desktops, about half Compaq and half Dell,
that are also available for pickup at Bolton Valley.
If anyone is interested in picking up the Proliant in the near future
(by the end of the month), I'll hold that out from the disposal run
on Monday. Any desktops that are still here then are going then. At
least some of them are capable of booting, although none will have
any software installed (all hard drives are being wiped prior to
disposal).
If you're interested, feel free to email me at this address or call
me at work -- 802-434-3444 x.1007.
Thanks,
Kevin Broderick
