On my Ubuntu Gutsy box, I see an item called "Take Screenshot" under the Applications/Accessories menu. Not for video capture of screen activity, true, but looks like it's perfectly useful for taking a .png or .jpg of a screen or window.

I believe GNOME comes with its own screen capture utility...at least,
it did on recent versions of Ubuntu...look under the Accessories menu,
if you're using GNOME.

Hi BJ,

Mac OS X has a built in tool in the utilities folder
(/applications/utilities) called grab. It should be installed by
 default.

KDE has a screen capture tool built in as well called Ksnapshot.
Personally, I don't care for GNOME so I can't help you on a screenshot
program for it. If KDE is installed, ksnapshot should work even if you
are in GNOME. If I find one quickly for GNOME, I'll send another post

What is a good screen capture program for linux? perferibly something
that records audio narration. I am looking for an alternative to Windows
CamStudio, that works in linux.
