Winter

Greetings List Lurkers,

This morning we woke to a dusting of snow here in central Vermont...

Still recuperating from my recent cycle adventure...

As stated last week, I suddenly find that I need to build
my podman skills even though I learned a bit about docker already. The fact
that
there are two of these LXC command environments that for me creates a bit
of a fun house mirror effect when it comes to the syntax involved...

Additionally, one other bit of ignorance I need to overcome is JavaScript.
As I mentioned last week, the good news here is that there is a single
standard for JavaScript maintained by the European Computer Manufacturers
Association (ECMA), and while they are up to version 6, to my knowledge,
unlike python they have not broken the earlier versions...

Not to say there are no JavaScript dialects. GoogleScript seems to be a
rather
faithful version of ECMA6, and I believe the mere existence of "GScript"
may go
a long way to keep Micro$oft and Visual Studio Code (VScode) editor
honest. Most folks follow the VScode path. While VScode Editor is
supposed to be open source, I simply prefer developing in GScript and
exporting the completed code to applications.

The El-dorado I still seek is a way to expand Visual Bash or more
specifically how to bash as a JavaScript plug-in. This may or may not be
possible but hey...

Being injured has cut the effort of SugarTower, I fully intend to assess
and organize the TechnoRubble that has accumulated and continue to expand
the dry storage areas. Soon SugarTower will mostly shut down for the
winter, I expect this will be revisited in the spring...

The great news is I may have finally found a connector for my icosahedron
project, will put in a url if anyone is interested in addictive geometry.

By spring I dream of a meet up of Adult Swim at SugarTower.
Sing out or attend this evening's meeting in person if you are interested
in the SugarTower TechnoRubble organizational project or the loot.

The new 'thespian' laptop is a case in point. Imagine a laptop which merely
records video and audio. You boot it and that is what it does.
More on this project as it develops over this coming winter.
I may need to bring thespian to DC for a project...

Tonight, I expect to continue my education in the SuSe version of
Immutability and Associated Containers (IAOC) that DTG has been coaching me
on IAOC which is really cool development environment based upon podman.
Need to nail podman.

This winter's ambitions to forge in the IAOC environment include, mastering
Pipewire in this, we may be delving into some audio evil... AudioEvil.sh is
a Visual Bash script yet to be written, which strikes me as the ultimate
name for a bash script to implement and monitor acquisition of protected
audio streams (Piracy :^).

Clearly winter projects...

As I have mentioned in the past, the next logical step after AudioEvil.sh
would be AVRelay.sh. AVRelay would trans-code
between different video conferencing applications (E.G. jitsi to zoom).
Basically, one examples; you would run a jitsi server on one virtual which
would relay to a zoom client. Another example might be to relay an
audio-video from one market to another.

Well they say it is good to dream...

Again, maybe Dave can consider a brief stint of immorality to help me with
AudioEvil.sh. AVRelay.sh seems morally clean. I also intend to bring a
puzzle with me for DTG to chew on.

That said we have a meeting tonight at 6PM.

The life lesson here is that serious development remains for the winter.
Winter shall soon allow us to answer questions like:
- Can we build a Large Language Model server?
- Can I use Chat GPT to generate VisualBash scripts?
- Would it make sense to store VisualBash functions in MariaDB?

...so more about these foolish ideas is available this Monday evening at 6
PM at the York Library in beautiful East Barre Vermont. Thus we are
centralizing and convocating at the York Branch Library this evening. That
said, come in person or remotely and bring this and any other problems
and questions and we shall do our thing!

This evening, beyond the Library face-2-face & gizmo-2-gizmo, we shall use
https://meet.jit.si/bosi to connect.
