But i walked very very fast. Sorry to disappoint guys...there were some 2000 people and just as it is in our marathon it was too crowded to run. There was ice on road as it had gone minus at night. In the morning i was almost slipping on road. But wore the huge santa suit complete with beard, which was itching my nose and all the cotton was going into my mouth. But i was an Asian Santa!! Yes. I loved it. I walked very very fast with a colleague who is a grandmother but extremely fit. While returning we ran the last quarter of the way. guys, i have made 70 pounds as yet and it is still open. I felt so proud to get donations...it was for a noble cause but the more you donated i felt my ego boost.
I mean generally, in UK they are so used to donating money to third world country. And i here Indians and people from India were donating to an UK organisation. My heart swells with pride. I was so proud to tell my colleagues. One of them (the granny) collected 150 pounds but she has been working since 15 years and went around the entire office to collect. And one PA took it to all directors who paid more than average. In my case, it was my friends/relatives who gave me. My other colleague who is also new made 20 pounds given by father and sister. I know most of us have our favourite charities and we feel India needs the most. My mama gave me a long lecture on why am i not collecting for Nepali refugees in Bhutan, flood victims in Bihar.I would have felt the same. Therefore, I feel, all those who sponsored me just did it for me, to support me, to encourage me and to tell me that they were there for me. 10 pounds is not a small amount, and Rs 850 is much more. I value it guys. I am touched. Love you loads and an earnest thanks P.S: Friend has posted pics on facebook. I have sent it to sameer. but will ask her to email me and i shall fwd to you. They Santa suit was oversized so please dont expect any cuteness. I know you wouldn't with me, anyway.
