A vassal module is just a zip file, so change the name to blah.zip and open it up. You will see a folder called images which contains all of the images that make up your module. Just copy your new image files into the images folder. As long as you haven't changed the names of the image files, you will be fine.
You may find it quicker (and the resulting module file slightly smaller) to completely unzip the module, update the images and then rezip it.
