I wrote a little utility for making hexgrids which some of you might
find of use. Here's the release announcement:

* mkhexgrid 0.1.0 has been released.

* What is mkhexgrid?

mkhexgrid is a small, command-line program which generates hexagonal grids
of the sort used for strategy games. Hex grids can be created as PNG or SVG
images, and as PostScript. Virtually every aspect of the output can be be
adjusted—--from grid line thickness and color, to style and size of hex
centers, to the style and position of hex coordinates. mkhexgrid makes it
simple to create whatever hex grid you need.

* Where can I get mkhexgrid?

mkhexgrid is available here

   http://www.nomic.net/~uckelman/mkhexgrid/

as pre-built Windows and Linux binaries and as source. If you build
mkhexgrid for a platform for which I don't provide binaries (e.g. Mac
OS X), let me know---I might be interested in providing binaries for
that platform in the future. mkhexgrid has few dependencies (only
GD and FreeType), so should be simple to build on most Unix systems.

* How much does it cost?

mkhexgrid is free and open-source.

* Please let me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) know if you find any bugs, or have
comments, feature requests, or probelms. I want to make this as useful
as possible, but I can't fix problems that no one tells me about.

* Enjoy!
