Hi, Everyone...
Though I risk embarrassing Gary, who did not ask for this plug, I just
wanted to encourage those w/ an interest in set piece, abstract sports
games to try the incredible new module by Gary Krockover, NFL
Strategy. I used to love these types of games, and, though this
particular one was new to me, I fell in love w/ the game play. (Link

Anyway, Gary is in the midst of even further changes to his v. 1.4,
which already automates much and leaves a fluid gaming experience to
the user. The game moves the imagination while requiring decent skill
and game (football) knowledge to balance the die-roll driven results.
While I thought it might be just a quaint curiosity, the game is
worth one's while--actually quite exciting.
It has been honed for real-time exchanges or solitaire suitability, w/
an ingenious little randomization component for play calling if one is
playing alone. This balances play for both teams if a playing partner
is unavailable.
Most of us enjoy the turn-based, counter conflicts that Vassal allows
us to play. If you are a fan of American football at all, please
consider giving this a go.
