Try <HTML><IMG SRC="xxx"> instead. I use Excel to build large sets of counters. The 'unprintable' characters are ust Tab characters. I also use cut and paste and find & replace in a standard editor. Just make sure you do it bit by bit and save your work regularly, it is easy to make a mistake. Your actual ship counters should only consists of a Layer command and a couple of Prototype definitions, this makes it a lot easier to work with.
