Make the player windows accessable to all (not restricted) and employ a mask
on your cards so that other players cannot see your cards in your hand (will
only see back side).

Because of ownership rules in vassal there is no way another player can grab
another card out of another players hand once the card has been "owned"
(placed) into that player's hand. To counter this we generally just let the
player window hand be visible to all (use a mask if needed like above) and
have the opponent say which card to discard either through chat window (i.e
"2nd card from left") or thru comms

Not ideal, but is the simplest method.

As a note - this topic keeps coming up about random card discards from
player hands. It may be beneficial to create a special trait that can be
added to cards that lets players select and discard them only if they are in
another player's hand window

Subject: [vassalengine] Selecting Cards from another Player's Hand

Hi all,

I'm sure this is pretty easy, and I'm just missing it somehow, but
what do I do for a game where one player may get to 'steal' a card
(randomly) from another player?

P2's hand is not accessible to P1 (it's a private window), but P1
needs to snatch one of P2's cards.

Any way to do this, other than having P2 drop all his cards onto
another map window and then P1 selecting one of them? This seems
messy, especially when a hand can contain upwards of 12 cards at a time.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Dave Neumann
