I got the exact same thing.I was about to reinstall java but tried
reinstalling vassal first. In addition I got a different sized
shortcut on my desktop than before (with a different name as well).
Glad to hear I wasn't the only one

using the auto start function. This morning when the Vassal site was
still down my computer would launch the Vassal program. When I tried
to start Vassal after the web site was up again, I got a java error
message saying it couldn't locate certain file paths. I tried to start
Vassal several times and still got the error message. I then went to
the Vassal site and reloaded the current version and, voila, the
program ran perfectly. Don't know if this is associated with the site
being down or not, but just letting others know that if they
experience this same problem all they have to do is reload the current
Vassal program from the Vassal download page.
