Job: Storage Administrator Location: Boise, ID Duration: 6 Months The incumbent would be an individual contributor, would work under specific deadlines and should be capable of handling heavy workloads and keen on developing his skills on other technology and non technology areas essentially involved in the Storage & Backup environment being supported. The ideal candidate will be someone with Level 3+ skills and experience on Netapp Filers with a fair exposure to Storage systems based on EMC VMAX, DMX, Clariion and or HDS Arrays. *Major Responsibilities Include: * - Perform Storage allocations, provisioning and other allocation changes of storage volumes as required. - Conduct evaluation of the environment using the Netapp Management and Monitoring Tools for compatibility, feasibility and performance utilization parameters. - Remain current in the knowledge and use of all applicable data storage technology and management products. - Provide Storage infrastructure configuration maintenance support by planning, performing, tracking and / or coordinating with vendors for configuration changes of the storage and associated sub systems - Provide resolution for warnings, alerts, events or any other storage associated issues adhering to all the applicable Service Level Time lines and other parameters - Recommend and Initiate Performance improvement or other necessary corrective changes and activities processes under the control of Change Management Processes of the Client’s IT Service Environment - Liaise with appropriate teams for effective Incident Management and Problem Management. - Remain current in the knowledge and use of all applicable data storage technology and management products. - Analyze and resolve escalated problems. Act as a mentor for the rest of the support staff in aligning their technology and non-technology skills to best suit environment being supported. - Maintain, configure, and zone Cisco/Brocade Director switches or FC Switches. *Essential Storage Skills Include: * - Good working knowledge of NAS & SAN storage best practices. - A very good understanding of & practical experience in managing large data centers with Heterogeneous storage and backup environments. - Experience in NAS storage administration tasks like creating, monitoring and managing aggregates, volumes and Host Integration tasks for Windows, Linux, Solaris and AIX platforms. - Experience in SAN storage administration tasks like Creating RAID Groups, Mapping LUNs, LUN Masking, Host, Host group and Host Integration tasks for Windows, Linux, Solaris and AIX platforms - Good experience with EMC Management Suites including ECC, Storage Scope and Performance Manager. - Experience in Configuring Cisco SAN Switches, VSANs, and ISLs etc. using Cisco Fabric Manager software or CLI. - Exposure to other NAS systems like EMC Isilon - Troubleshooting Issues associated Heterogeneous storage environment and Fabric Switches using appropriate management tools. - Proficient in Netapp NAS infrastructure management based on utilities like OnCommand, NMC etc - Proficient in Performance tuning and optimization of NAS and SAN systems. - Experience in handling Disaster recovery scenarios and tests - Prepare operational reports using tools like DFM, ECC and Unisphere. - Experience/ Exposure to implementation of VTL (Virtual Tape Library). - Capable of Client side trouble shooting using UNIX or Windows OS Commands. - Exposure to Hitachi Storage Management Suits namely Hitachi Storage Navigator, Tuning Manager and HDS Device Manager.
