Shared folders are having issues in build r38554 and probably before.
I have seen the splicing file error for a while but use network shares
most of the time.
Auto-mount share folder
error splicing file: Protocol error
All files show in the /media/<share_sf> but trying to copy then paste in
guest produces the error.
Manual mount fails (different share)
/sbin/mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: Protocol error
Command to manual mount = mount -t vboxsf Picture /mnt/share (as sudo)
Hosts = Ubuntu 10.10 Guests Linux one is 32 and one is 64 bit
All updated and with latest GAs installed in the guests. <user name> in
in vboxusers group (verfied)
