I assume that your host OS is windows. As far as I know, Windows
treats IDE (actually, ATAPI) and SATA devices as just another kind of
hard disks.

(In fact, NT4 was notorious for listing IDE-ATAPI devices as SCSI ,
but it was just a cosmetic thing  :)).

My guess, and it´s just a guess, is that Virtualbox guets see all
disks and devices as IDE...
