This all depends on the guest. If your guest is a 'popular' one and you can install guest addons you are advised too. Doing this when you select fullscreen from the menu of <host>+f the virtual machine will look just like a full-screen rdesktop session. Another interest may be using seamless mode. This will display the programs on the guest but not the background. So if windows is your guest it will show the taskbar and the program windows.
