Greetings -- From: "Mark Ehle" <[email protected]>
I did this yesterday on my Ubuntu 10.10 server: dpkg -r virtualbox-3.2 Reply -- THANK YOU, Mark; this did the trick very nicely! I was then able to... dpkg -i virtualbox-4.0_4.0.0-69151~Ubuntu~maverick_i386.deb ...and it installed without trouble. Reply -- I had my download saved in the wrong location for this to work "perfectly". But I had NO trouble installing from my "Downloads" list. It was FAR nicer than I really expected it to be!!! (THANKS, VBOX TEAM!!!!!) Two new questions arise, however. Somehow, VBox-4 has found my WinXP virtual machine, and it starts automatically (since there is only the one VM). However, I had long-since installed a MASSIVE application -- which is NOT recognized (yet). I'm sure that I have it backed-up "somewhere" (probably as the .vdi). Whenever I find the backup, (1) how do I recognize it? and (2) how do I get it to be recognized under VB-4 --> WinXP?
