Ive had my share of struggles with Centos installs. For this and
other reasons I'm seriously contemplating dumping my personal support
of this OS, my reasons why are left for another discussion on another
forum.

That being said, I have always been able to figure out what I needed
to do to get it working.

My assessment is that it is something of an experiment to get centos
installed and the specific instructions seem to vary a little
depending on your version of centos and the version of vbox you are
using.

When you setup a new centos guest vbox uses a redhat profile for a
baseline to begin the settings for the vm.

Pay close attention to the system settings, expecially the motherboard
and processor tabs.

Under the processor tab there is a check box for enabling PAE/NX settings.

Under the motherboard tab there is a drop down for the chipset to
support and there is a check box for enabling IO APIC

Over the years Ive had to change each of these three settings to get
centos installed.

I can only tell you to change these things one at a time. and try the
install after each change, so you can isolate for yourself which
settings is the problem.

Be sure to experiment again with updated versions of vbox and centos.
