You don't say which Linux version your guest is, but I suspect the error is
because of a missing shell. The VBoxLinuxAdditions.run file is designed to
be executed by /bin/sh, and some Linux versions do not install /bin/sh by
default. If your system shell is "bash", it would work to run it as
