When powering off a machine abruptly with the last option on a VM's menu "Machine", the little popup window "Close Virtual Machine" has three options:
Save the machine state Send the shutdown signal Power off the machine And this last option has a sub-option to "Restore current snapshot 'Snapshot 1'" What is the idea exactly behind this sub-option as in when would be the right time to use it? So far as I understand it, it seems to me that it would have exactly the same effect as if I were to take these steps instead: 1. choose the third option above without selecting the sub-option 2. when the machine was stopped and completely off, selecting to restore the Snapshot 1. Does that sound right. I'm asking because I have one machine that is misbehaving and BMB (busting my ...!), and now I am down to the wire in troubleshooting it, having deleted all back to the last available snapshot. If this fails, I will need to reinstall, which I hope to avoid; and I would like to think that I have taken the proper rigorous steps in doing so. Thanks.
