A VBox user on Twitter is complaining that a "bugfix release" of virtualbox
has "changed an important environment variable" without specifying which
one.
Is this true? How and when does VBox on Windows use environment variables?
At first I thought it was a troll, but he´s engaging in a conversation with
me over Twitter. So, devs, is there a likelihood that what this user says
is true?

Also, unless VBox modified the path, I don´t see what other env variable
has far-reaching implications wrt to the stability or usability of the
system...
This claim is puzzling, to say the least... Checking the changelog I see
only two references to environment variables, and are related to guests...
