I don't have a VBox running (at the moment), but I think in the menu there is
an option, to get updates weekly,daily, etc.
I don't have a VBox running (to look at), The main-menu drop-down which offers
to set your preferences ...
I use the portable-vbox (http://www.vbox.me/), I am on a public-computer, it
needs admin privileges to run ...
I thinking the "check-box" to ... download updates was not checked ... in
"your" VirtualBox ...preferences...

I'm running 4.3.16 on a Windows 7 host but when I "Check for updates..."
from the VB GUI it says "You are already running the latest version of
VirtualBox."
