I just installed 4.18 into Windows 7, then installed opensuse 13.2 into
it. VBox reports a resolution of 640x480 to suse.

I had previously installed 4.12 then opensuse 13.1 and 13.2. Both of
those worked just fine, and continue to work fine under 4.18. So I have
two older VM's with the correct 1920x1080 resolution, and one new one
with 640x480. The GUI manager's system report has a dozen or so lines
saying vga's minimum, maximum, and current resolution are 640x480.

Looking into the manual, I see I should be able to correct the
resolution using VBoxManage setextradata ... But when I issue the
command, VBoxManage immediately stops without error message or effect.
I also tried VBoxManage list vms with the same result.

The computer is a Samsung NP700Z7C-S01US running Windows 7 Home
Premium. Both W7 and suse are fully up to date; I was trying to keep
VBox up to date, too (seeing all the problems on the list with 4.16, I
held off until the list indicated a version that was working reliably).

I did the usual Windows fix: restarting the computer. The first two
times VBox changed slightly; the last time it didn't change at all. This
was the second installation of 4.18, but I made some mistakes the first
time and reinstalled carefully to be sure it wasn't an obvious mistake
on my part.

Is this enough for someone to tell me why VBoxManage won't start, and
why it reports a bad display resolution?
