I've noticed on certain vbox vms I've run that if I had slected any shared directories in the vbox gui for the vm then those would just show up as mounted... I believe they might have been visible to the linux/unix mount command.
That is, calling `mount' with no aruguments would reveal them. Maybe I dreamed it.... One current vm where I have selected shared directories (and selected automount), I do not see any evidence they get mounted. So far, that vbox is a gentoo linux guest with no gui. I wondered if maybe the vm has to have a gui for this to work.
