It took me days trying to install Fedora Server 22 and 23 64-bit in
VirtualBox 5.0.10 with default settings ("Fedora (64-bit)" VM type).
Sometimes installation would hang when downloading packages (netinst media).
After endless attempts, I finally managed to complete the install part.
Then, dnf would simply hang forever, guest additons installation would fail
killed by SIGPIPE, etc. Really misterious misbehavior.

Too bad took me time to realize that for RHEL ("Red Hat (64-bit)" VM type)
VirtualBox enables PAE/NX by default. Done. Enabled it and the Fedora VM
started working properly!

My host is Windows 7 SP1 64-bit running on an Athlon II X2 260 (AMD-V enabled).

Fedora must have changed something in its kernel, because I have an old
Fedora 21 64-bit VM here (created with VirtualBox 4.3) and it works fine
without PAE/NX (but KVM paravirtualization is disabled). BTW, I tried
disable KVM paravirtualization (while PAE/NX was still off) but it did not
make difference. Things started working with KVM paravirtualization +
PAE/NX. Note: I did not test PAE/NX without KVM paravirtualization.
