All,
Trying to troubleshoot why guests (normal and headless) using the 5.2 branch
is unuably slow with the Linux 5.5 kernel, I ran into another problem while
updating the Linux guest to the 5.5 kernel for testing. The guest additions
fail to build:
In file included from /tmp/vbox.0/vboxvideo_guest.h:32,
from /tmp/vbox.0/modesetting.c:27:
/tmp/vbox.0/vbox_drv.h:101:10: fatal error: drm/drmP.h: No such file or
directory
101 | #include <drm/drmP.h>
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~
compilation terminated.
In file included from /tmp/vbox.0/hgsmi_base.c:27:
/tmp/vbox.0/vbox_drv.h:101:10: fatal error: drm/drmP.h: No such file or
directory
101 | #include <drm/drmP.h>
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~
compilation terminated.
I have opened two tickets, the first for the unusably slow I/O between host
and guest:
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/19311
and the failure of the guest additions to build discovered last night:
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/19337
If anybody has any thoughts or workarounds for either, I would welcome the
help. The virtualbox-5 package that I package for AUR is currently
dead-in-the-water.
