PhpVirtualBox specifically requires vboxwebsrv to run as the same user who administers the VMs. For example, if your normal Linux user is mattias and you run: VBoxManage list vms as mattias, create: sudo nano /etc/default/virtualbox with: VBOXWEB_USER=mattias VBOXWEB_HOST=127.0.0.1 VBOXWEB_PORT=18083 Then: sudo systemctl enable --now vboxweb-service You can then check that it starts systemctl status vboxweb-service FC
