I was having the same trouble as Peter. I checked taskmanager and no instance of VBoxSVC was running so I started it manually from within the installation directory. The GUI then ran fine so I tried to create a new virtual machine. I got through the whole process however when I click on finish the error message
Failed to create a new session Callee RC: REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG (0x80040154) appeared and it wouldn't allow me any further.
