Windows XP can not handle DVD-RAM by itself. It needs third party tools for
that.
Does it work if you run linux as guest ?

Subject: [vbox-users] Access to DVD-RAM

Hi,
on SuSE 10.2 I installed Windows XP within a virtual box. On the machine there
is a DVD-RAM-Writer. From Linux the normal user without problem can write to
the DVD-RAM. When I try to access the DVD-RAM-writer from XP for example in
order to make a new directory, I got an answer like "The new directory
couldn't be made. Access denied." I looked in the manual but I couldn't find
an answer. Has somebody any experience with this?
Thanks in advance!
Michael
