Strange. That means that your kernel has ALSA with builtin dmix support.
Any stange ALSA messages in the log file ("Show Log..." from the Maschine
menu)? Was ALSA successfully enabled? Or did it probably fall back to
OSS for some reason?

Do you observe general problems playing two applications (other than
VirtualBox) generating ALSA sound in parallel?
