Does the delay happen before the "Uncompressing Linux..." message appears ? Or
after it ?

Might be related to this issue "EDD code causes long boot
delay"<http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2004-06/5150.html>

Subject: [vbox-users] Long delay while booting linux guess...

Hi All, I am noticing a long than normal delay when vbox is booting my linux
guess os.
The boot delay for about 45 seconds are the point where it says:

"Uncompressing Linux.... o.k, booting kernel"

I expect a delay on the above BUT not as long as it is taking with VBOX. On
regular host machine this takes less than 10 seconds.
Also, on VMware it takes about 10 seconds as well... I am wondering why this
huge delay with VBOX.

Joe
