Has anyone seen this problem or have any diagnostic or repair ideas?:

In a Windows 2000 installation copied from real hardware to a VirtualBox VM,
when I try to play MPEG-4 files in Windows Media Player, it briefly says "Error
downloading codec" and doesn't display the video portion.

WMP on the original system played the files correctly, so WMP on the copied
system almost surely has the codec file. (I also tried re-loading the codec
by downloading a codecs-for-WMP-9.0 file and running it to install codecs.
That made no difference.)

Any ideas what WMP is really complaining about?

Any ideas about what in VirtualBox (virtual video card?) or what about WMP
or Windows might cause this, or how to narrow down the problem?

(This with VirtualBox 2.1.4r42893 on Linux.)

(I used the W2k installation CD's Recovery option to update the drivers from
those for the original real hardware to those for VirtualBox's different virtual
hardware.)

Thanks,
Daniel
